Ends on September 1, 2017

The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature
began accepting poetry for the 21th Anniversary Year of the Dead Mule [2017] on September 1, 2016. It's almost July and we've received some truly wonderful
poems.

We are so far behind in reading/publishing poetry, we honestly don't recommend you submit. It will take months to get to your work. So, if you're willing to wait, we're willing to read -- eventually.

SINGLE SPACED. ONE SPACE BETWEEN stanzas/verses (PARAGRAPHS in prose poetry). NO PARAGRAPH INDENTS. THANK YOU.

YOUR WORK NEED NOT HAVE YOUR NAME OR HEADERS/FOOTERS/PAGE #S. DON'T DO THAT ... thanks.

Please send us up to five poems per submission. We will accept poetry throughout the year but we will not publish new work April through May 2016 as these months are to be lovingly curated by our dear Helen Losse.

Lots to do ... think now of Autumn 2017 and send poetry appropriate to such time. Or, since the flowers are blooming right now (!) send us poems to publish in the months of Autumn 2017.

We look forward to reading your poems. Truly we do.

-Denise K. James, Poetry Editor
